Singapore Photo Diary: Marina Bay Sands

Oh beautiful Singapore, how I love to spend my time here. I'm in this beautiful country for almost 5 years and oh boy, I don't regret moving here. I had my reasons for leaving my home country, Myanmar, and came to this tiny island. Just 3 hours away from my country by plane and I get to experience the whole new experience that I never did back home.

And, I never looked back. I love my country but I didn't travel outside country before so I didn't know the touch of "foreign" land. When I first touched down, I was excited and I sweared to myself that I will be here as long as I can be. Well, part of it is still true but after living here for half a decade, I want to explore around! I want to gain new experiences. So, before that actually happens, I'm looking at this beautiful country with a whole new eyes and perspective with my trusty old camera to capture the memories and landscapes that I adore! So, here is my photo diary of a place that I love!

View from Marina Bay at night!
I hope you liked it. If you want to keep updated with my photography and my life, please check out my Instagram page at @sheisreyar for my photos.

Review: Timeless Truth Multi-Peptide Bio Cellulose Eye Mask ★★★☆☆

This is the first time I tried the eye mask and I wasn't sure how to expect. To be honest, it wasn't that mind-blowing experience to me. I got this mask as a gift when I bought the Timeless Truth mask a while back and the sales person kindly gifted this to me. I don't really know how to use eye masks so I kept putting it off but when I went to Japan during this January, I finally decided to give this one a go!

To be honest, this is also my first time trying the bio cellulose mask as well. I wasn't sure how to apply the mask and it kept falling off from my hands so it was messy during the application. I applied it on the plane and after a good few minutes, I was finally able to apply them on my eyes. Once I applied it, I also needed to adjust how I sit to ensure that they are not falling apart.

The mask itself wise, it was soaked in the essence and the mask actually contain quite a lot of essence in the packet. I managed to smear some of the excess essence to my face as a moisturiser. I applied the mask and I fell asleep for about one hour and I still felt that there is a bit of moisture left in the mask after one whole hour of masking.

Though with being said, I felt nothing particular happened. Although the mask still contains a bit of moisture, I didn't see any difference on my skin. Maybe it was due to the flight, that the mask was not able to moisturize my undereyes normally.

So the rating, I will give this eye mask a 3 three out of 5 stars. I want to try it one more time if I can find it so that I can update this review again in a normal condition of masking. I wasn't sure how much it cost as I was gifted this mask.

Photo Diary: Botanical Gardens Singapore 2016

I want to go back to the Botanical Gardens in Singapore right now so I wanted to make a little #throwback to you guys by sharing this photo diary with y'all. These photos were saved in a cloud and I never really looked at them so I took them out and edit them a bit and share on my blog to see how my photography skills and whether it had improved throughout these years.

It's still a good laugh to see the boyfriend in very long hair. At that time, both of us thought it looked cool and now when I look back, it doesn't match him at all hahaha. I was using the kit lens at the time and I was so not sure how to frame or shoot photos.

Now, this made me wonder.... I want to publish a blogpost dedicated to the day I got my DSLR and how I felt about it and how I struggled to take photos even in Auto mode. During this time, I had watched so many hours of photography tutorials on YouTube and started trying to shoot in manual mode. That's why although I took a lot of photos, most of them were blurred, over/under exposed, not composed nicely! But I still wanted to share some of the good ones and even some of my bad ones here so that I can look back and learn from my mistakes in the future.

This photo diary will serve as a memory and my journey to photography. I want to take more photos very soon. Though I'm going to be very busy from now on because of my studies. Wish me luck and I hope you enjoyed this photo diary as much as I enjoyed making it.

Review: Watsons Facial Mask with Cucumber Extract ★★★★☆

I have been using this mask for way too long and I even put this mask in some of my favourites and even in my 3 sheets masks you should try blogpost so you'll know how much I love this mask. I was introduced to this range of masks from my friend's mother whom had bought this mask at that time and gave it to me. When I first tried it, I thought that it doesn't work that well. But the more I tried it, the more I fell in love with it. I recently bought another packet of the mask and I was in love. I believe that they have changed the packaging and updated the mask. I have not yet tried the new ones yet. I got this during the sale for S$3 per packet of 5 masks.

If you just applied it for the first time, you'll think that this mere mask doesn't work but in fact, it is really excellent in hydrating the skin. It also makes your skin refreshing which are the things that the mask claims to do.

The mask material is good since it's not too thick nor too thin material and it maintains the moisture pretty well on my skin. The fit was okay although I want my chin to be covered a bit more. But it was quite reasonable mask fit for my big face.

The mask was soaked in the essence. The mask contains 30ml of the essence so it is considered quite a lot for one mask since the usual is about 20-25ml. It has a mild fragrance and refreshing and it doesn't linger during the masking time. The scent doesn't bother me at all. The essence sink into my skin pretty quickly and it doesn't leave an oil residue.
When application, I feel that it refreshes my skin very nicely. It would be better if you have put the mask in the fridge for 10 minutes and apply it on the face. After 20 minutes of application, I can still feel the moisture left in the mask and I tend to squeeze the essence out and pat in my skin for further hydration. The remaining excess, I put on my neck and my hands.

The essence sink into my skin for around 5 minutes and it leaves the skin nice and plump. I feel that my face is smoother afterwards and felt more awake. I have been using the mask for quite a while and I don't get any breakouts from the mask and I didn't get any clogged pores from the mask.

Overall, I give this mask a 4 stars out of 5. I love how it makes my skin feel nice and smooth while hydrating the skin and makes it plump and radiant. I shall try a new version after I have tried some of the sheet masks that I have left so, it would be quite a while haha!

My very first camera lens + photo diary

I want to write something that is personal to my love for photography and my very first lens after my kit lens. After a few days of researching, I finally decided to get a Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. If you love photography or if you read a lot of bloggers, a lot of people use this lens and they call it "the nifty fifty". After getting it, I finally get to know why they call it.

It is considered a cheap lens and has a ridiculously sharp image quality. So, a lot of people get this lens after the kit lens and hence it is very popular. I was also thinking of getting more into my YouTube channel at that time, so I wanted a "blurred background" or "bokeh" so I decided to opt for this f1.8 lens. It performed amazingly but it was a tad bit too close for my liking.

I had that issues since the beginning thinking that I made a mistake because it's too narrow for composure range and I can't film my makeup tutorials like this.

After having this lens for around 2 years now, I now like it much better for my photography rather than video since I do more of photography than my videos and I am grateful to have this. It is a god-send for portrait photography and I am still amazed by how good the photos look whenever I use this. I don't use it often but I love the way it makes the photos so I am glad to have this lens in my life right now!

These are the photos that I took during the day that I bought the lens so they were really old but bare with me. I wanted to write something that I can keep my memories and thoughts in one place. I want to get into more of my photography changes and keep notes so that I can reference to it later instead of piling through my hard drive to look for reference.

I hope you liked it. If you want to keep updated with my photography and my life, please check out my Instagram page at @sheisreyar for my photos.

Review: My Beauty Diary 2-step Deep Pore Cleansing Pack ★★☆☆☆

This time round, I want to review the My Beauty Diary 2 step deep pore cleansing pack. I have bought this sheet mask during last year and I never get a chance to use this properly. I somehow used the Volcanic Oil-Control Mud Mask a while back and I didn't remember the effects properly so, I won't be putting in this review. (I'm sorry!)

For the Glacier Water Soothing Repair mask, it was an okay mask. I find that just using the repair mask alone didn't do much to my skin and I didn't see any effects whatsoever on my skin. The mask material is paper like and it tears quite easily. It was soaked in the essence very well but for some reason, the sheet mask was quite drying during the 10 minutes of application. Although it doesn't have any scent, it was messy to apply since it keeps tearing here and there. After a struggle of applying it on my face, I finally was able to leave it for 10-15 minutes. During the 10-15 minutes, the mask dries up pretty fast and I felt that my skin was not able to get enough moisture that it needed for the day. I usually apply serums and essences before the mask so my skin should have a layer of moisture. But with this mask, I felt that my moisture is leaving my skin through evaporation with the essence.

With that being said, I feel bad to say this but I don't really like this mask. I give this mask 2 stars out of 5. I wish it has shown better results as I was really looking forward to using this mask. I still have one more type that is similar to this from the same brand. I hope that won't be like this mask and make my skin a bit better than what it is right now!

Myanmar Photo Diary: Yangon 2016

I was born in Yangon and raised here so I kinda knew things inside out. Well, that's what I thought. After coming to Singapore for 5 years, I realised that Yangon has grown in the fastest way in terms of places to eat, places to go and relax. After coming back from a long time, I didn't remember where things are and the places to go anymore. Therefore, I took out my camera to document places of interest and things that are nice to look at.
I wasn't expecting too much with my photography. I just took whatever I saw and they turned out to be good. There are places that never changes no matter how much time it took and there are some places that changed a lot during the few months that I didn't return. Everything looked new to me and boy, was I glad to document some places that I wasn't able to see if I were not walking around the city.

Though it was around  November in 2016, it's still very hot so I went to some popsicle shop to eat a delicious yet very sour popsicle for around S$2.

Review: Innisfree Green Tea Sleeping Pack ★★★★★

I brought this sleeping pack to both my Japan trip and my Myanmar trip last month. I got this product from a winter holiday limited edition set that I bought during the Black Friday sale and I brought this sleeping pack with me to my travels.

I knew that Japan was really cold during January so I wanted something that I can use as a mask as well as a moisturiser. I was right that I chose this sleeping pack with me to Japan. I will review the entire holiday kit in the future.

I cannot say that I love this product as a sleeping mask. Because I use it as a moisturiser. When I went to Japan as well as Myanmar, I forgot to bring my moisturiser so I use this as a moisturiser and I fell in love with the product.

It's very lightweight on my skin; meaning that I don't feel sticky feeling on my face, sinks into the skin very quickly and it's not too heavy nor light. I love the way it moisturises for my face and I really loved using it. When I travel, I tend to choose something that I can use without bringing a lot of products and this product worked perfectly on my face in a dry and harsh weather.

I can't live without this product whenever I go travel. I love this product. Although I won't use it when I'm back home because I tend to layer a lot more products since I have all my products so whenever I'm travelling, I'll be bringing this product.

Myanmar Photo Diary: Shwe Dagon Pagoda 2016

I finally get around my hands on editing the 2016 Myanmar photos and I wanted to do a photo diary series on places that I went that are interesting for me and places that I love. I wanted to start off with a place so elegant and so peaceful, Shwe Dagon Pagoda.

Shwe Dagon Pagoda is one of the main attractions in Yangon and it is known for its very big pagoda that is around 99m tall. Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa.  - Wikipedia

I always go to the pagoda every time I go back to Myanmar and I always find a new ways to take photographs of the sacred pagoda from many different angles and different perspectives. So, this photo series was taken around November 2016 and I wanted to showcase as a separate photo series that is not related to my Myanmar travel during the time.

Review: Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask ★★★☆☆

I have been using this clay mask for more than 2 years and I still have more than half left.. *sigh* I like this mask, don't get me wrong but I want to try other clay masks! Okay, enough of my complaints on how long lasting this product is and let's start with the review.

I find that this mask is a normal clay mask. It is very long lasting, a little bit goes a long way. I find that putting it on while the face is a little bit moist is the best way to put on this mask since the water will spread the mask evenly. If not, it's a pain to spread properly.

I usually use it as a mask to remove impurities. Though it didn't clean my pores properly, I find that the mask makes my skin soft, clean and somehow I felt that it also makes my pores tighter. Although it's not to the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque kinda of extreme pore tightening.

I don't apply the mask very thick because it'll not dry if you apply thick. I spread it out thinly so it dries pretty quickly. I usually put it on for about 20 minutes (one anime episode) and I rinse it off with water.

I usually apply on another sheet mask after this so that my skin can absorb the sheet mask effectively. My skin feels smooth and soft after using the mask. One bottle will last you a long time although the results are not that visible. A bit disappointing but it's a not bad mask and I like using it every week to deep clean my face.

I give this mask 3 out of 5 stars. It's an okay product but I want to keep trying new clay masks that will work better with my skin.

Myanmar Photo Diary: One Sunset in Pathein (November, 2016)

If you have seen my last post on Pathein, you'll know that I have been living in this beautiful yet small town for a few times whenever I go back to Myanmar. I wanted to know more about this beautiful town. I want to see how people interact with each other and I wanted to know how things work in this town.

So, I set out a journey. I wanted to see the bustling city, the busiest road, the most crowded people where they live their lives and move on. I wanted to see the beautiful scenery. It's not much of an exploration but I love how they fit together perfectly.

So, here is my photo diary of a sunset in Pathein that was shot during November, 2016.
