A Wishlist for University

Next week, just after New Years, I will be starting my second part of my life of an university student. If you all know, I just graduated my Bachelor's Degree back in November with Bachelor of Information Technology. I still owe a blogpost on the subject so when I publish the blogpost, I will link it here.

I decided that I want to continue studying since I couldn't get any jobs during the one month of finding jobs. I quickly went and sent the application to my same university, University of Newcastle Singapore whose campus is at PSB Academy in Singapore. Well, I got accepted and next week I'll be starting my second part of my university life. I hope I understand the business theories since I learnt codes during my Bachelor's Degree (lol). So it was official. I will be studying Masters of Business Administration in University of Newcastle. Well, mine is a bit odd and special since Masters Degree is normally for people who have working experience. Mine has zero experience so the school offered me a position with a condition. In this 8 months, I will need to study Graduate Certificate in Business Administration which is the same first four modules as the MBA whereas I need to pass all four modules in 8 months to proceed to MBA course. The first trimester takes four months so that means if I fail one module, I can still redo it in another trimester. Of course, I am going to work hard to get at least credit in all modules (fingers crossed, I need to study a lot harder!)

So of course, I want to add these things that I want but not needed for my Masters Degree as a wish-list even though I have zero intention to buy these things myself. If you are a reader of mine since a few months back, I still am trying to live in a more minimised way of living. It was a bit difficult to cope as my mother visiting to Singapore while purchasing a lot of stuff for herself and me, having Christmas so I splurged a bit of stuff that I've been wanting so my minimalist life is a bit on pause. So these are the things I want to have but do not need and have no intention of buying but I still want them anyways haha.

What are your must-haves for university life?

Haikyuu!! Season 1 Review

Haikyuu was one of the series I found and I've fell in love with the TV series immediately. It was based on a manga series from Shounen Jump by Haruichi Furudate where the main character Hinata Shouyo was inspired to play volleyball by a volleyball aced named "Little Giant." It was thrilling to see how Hinata practice with his teammates during high school and play volleyball matches.
It was interesting to watch for a person like me who doesn't like to play sports. They managed to explain the rules and the positions for people who are like me who doesn't have a clue about volleyball and how it works. It made me feel very fuzzy feeling watching them play and they made it very fun to watch.

The relationship with the teammates is important, you can reach to the top when you practice harder and you have to search for new techniques in order to grow are one of a few things that the anime showcases to me. It might me very different to what you perceived and it is okay to have different opinions. It's just my opinion.
As a whole, the anime was really nice to watch, the story line that they gave was good and easy to relate to reality, the character designs are bright, funny and cheerful, the art and background are pretty normal.

According to MAL, this anime is ranked #43 and the popularity was at #115. The score was at 8.68 on average and I can understand why the anime was rated so high. It was aired on Apr 6, 2014 to Sep 21, 2014 and it was premiered in Spring 2014. It has 25 episodes in the first season and after the first season, it had already aired the second(Fall 2015) and third season(Fall 2016.)

My rating:
Character - 8 / 10
Story - 8 / 10
Art - 7 / 10
Enjoyment - 10 / 10
Ovreall - 8 / 10

Singapore Visa Situation

Today was a disaster! It was incredibly stressful day and my mind was not able to catch up even though I've solved all the problems, ate dinner, got home and started writing this post. I wanted to share what happened today in my life. I almost thought my life would end up not able to enter Singapore again or have to pay a large sum of money to Singapore government as a penalty regarding my visa situation.

I lived in Singapore for more than 3 years and I never regretted the decision to move to another country all by myself. That comes with a lot of problems that are quite serious for a 18 year old self. I didn't know all the complications at that time, I just knew that I wanted to leave the country that I lived in and start a new life in Singapore. It was the best decision I've ever made.

Fast forward 3 years, I finished my studies for my Bachelor's Degree in IT and I had to start finding jobs. I tried to look for jobs but I never really knew what I liked even though I finished my entire degree. I kind of lost my passion for developing softwares along this 3 years and found others that I really like to do as a job but don't know where to start. One of the example is my blogging. I didn't know I love writing when I was a teenager. Yes, I did write a 30-page story when I was in 4th grade and spent my entire summer break trying to write this story which in the end I didn't finish. But I came to love writing especially this month. I've been doing YouTube and stuff. I love editing, love photography and the way they portray my life around in pictures is another passionate things that I love to do. But in the end, I came to love writing my personal experiences, what I love, what I created, what kind of products I'm loving in written form made me love blogging more. (okay, enough with the blogging)

After finishing my 3 years of study, I went to Japan with my friends. I have written 2 blogposts about Japan - Osaka and Tokyo. After that I went back to Myanmar for 2 weeks of holiday and during that time, I got an dreadful email that I will need to cancel my student pass. Well, fast forward, they issued me another social visit pass that lasted for 1 month and after one month, I went back to Myanmar for another round. I enjoyed my stay in Myanmar even though it was extremely boring and couldn't do anything. During that time, I decided that I want to further study in Singapore again for my Masters degree in the same school. I sent my application and I got an email that I got an offer from school for a position in the Masters Degree. I was thrilled. The person who was in charge of me and other post-graduate applications told me that I will get my student pass before my graduation ceremony which will be held on 26th November 2016. Fast forward to the second week of November, I still didn't hear a thing from ICA about my student pass release. The person who was in charge of me told me that my student pass was still pending. In order to attend my Graduation Ceremony, I had to apply a social visit pass to enter to Singapore.

The good thing was that the boy was the citizen so he helped me get my social visit pass that will allow me to stay in Singapore for one month and then proceed to my student pass. I arrived to Singapore on 24th of November so I have one month to wait for my IPA letter to arrive.

Fast forward to Christmas, actually it was a few days before Christmas, I got an email from the person in charge saying that my student pass was approved and I'm ready to get my IPA letter. Little did I know about IPA letters are that it only acts as a visa when you are coming in to Singapore. It didn't act as a visa when you are already in Singapore and your existing visa was expiring. Luckily, I had medical checkup and pre-enrolment meeting today on 28th December. They were briefing about what to bring to ICA when completing the student pass formalities and one of the requirement was to bring valid visit pass.

I panicked!!
I thought my IPA letter would act as a visa and turns out it didn't! I was quite shocked. Another thing I thought was that my expiry date of my visa was today since the "Visa Valid till" date was stated today. So I thought it would be fine if I just extend myself. The school told me that I only needed my passport to extend the social visit pass. They didn't tell me that I would need a local sponsor with me to ICA when I extend my visit pass. When I arrived to ICA after medical checkup, I heard the bad news!

The ICA officer told me that my visa overshot already. Meaning I OVERSTAYED! I was shocked. I started panicking. Me who always tend to be careful with the "official" stuff made a terrible mistake misunderstanding the whole concept of visa expiry dates and overstayed in Singapore. I felt terrible, my brain couldn't think properly. The ICA officer told me that I need to find a local sponsor and extend my visit pass immediately by 4pm today before they close. It blew the fuse of my brain. I didn't know what to do. I immediately messaged my boyfriend who was aware of the situation that I need to extend by today since I was messaging to him while waiting for medical check up hoping nothing would go wrong. Well, it went wrong terribly. When I messaged him that I need him to come over to ICA to extend my visa and it was urgent, he started panicking as well. He was at work trying to finish his project (well, he told me that he was very busy this morning) when I called him. He had to take urgent leave to come to ICA on cab to help me renew my visa. I felt very sorry for him and I always trouble him whenever he was busy.

Thank goodness that he came over and we had to settle by filling up the form to extend the visa, writing a letter to ICA officer the reasons why I accidentally overstayed and other reasons why I need to extend my visit pass. The good thing was that I told them that I already got my IPA letter and I misunderstood that the IPA letter would act as my visa for staying in Singapore. Mann, I thought I was a goner. I really thought I had to pay fines or even not able to extend my visit pass and it might caused them to cancel my student pass.

At the end, they told me to take caution of expiry dates later and not to do this kind of mistake again, and they extended my visa till 4th of Jan where I need to finish completing my student pass renewal by 4th. Well, another problem was that I will get my medical checkup results on 30th (hope nothing go wrong again), 31st is Saturday, 1st is Sunday and 2nd will be public holiday, I have orientation on 3rd, whole day of class on 4th. I'm not sure when to squeeze my renewing of student pass with these dates. It might mean that I will need to skip one class to go to ICA to renew. I'm not sure they have slots for my e-appointment during 3rd or 4th since it was just after new years holidays.

Fingers crossed that nothing bad will happen! FINGERS CROSSED!!!!

20 Shounen-Ai (BL) Anime to Binge Watch

I was in high-school when I was first introduced to the Shounen-Ai genre. During that time, I had to buy DVDs from the shop if I wanted to watch anime since I didn't have internet to watch an anime and it would be easier for me to just buy and watch anime. Another problem that I had was that the subtitles of all the anime come in Chinese subs so, I had to learn Japanese just to understand what the heck the anime was about. One day in high-school days, while I was browsing through what anime I should watch, I saw one anime cover of 2 guys. Without knowing the genre, I decided to give that anime a shot since it looked fun to watch. The anime that I was introduced was "Junjou Romantica" and I had been hooked ever since.

So, that was my first day of my fujoshi life and I didn't regret at all (lol.) Now, looking forward 6 years of my fujoshi life, I had read a tonne of shounen-ai mangas, watched all of the shounen-ai anime released and read loads of yaoi doujinshi online. So, with being said, I want to share with you my 20 shounen-ai anime to binge watch if you are curious about fujoshi/fudanshi life.
Disclaimer: Shounen-ai/ Yaoi category basically means boys love. According to AnimeNewsNetwork, shounen-ai focuses on love and romance between boys or men.

Why you should visit to Gardens by the Bay this Christmas

I've been living in Singapore for almost 4 years and I never regretted the decision I made 5 years ago. I was on the fence with going to Singapore for studies and to Australia for my Bachelor's degree. I never really went out on Christmas during my past 3 years and I was mostly travelling back in Myanmar whenever it was Christmas.
This year, I decided to stay in Singapore to travel around a bit more in the bustling country and take photos of my experiences in this country. I went to Gardens by the Bay last weekend with the boy just to look around and take photos and I was blown away with how pretty the set up was. So, before Christmas and New Years were over, I want to share with you why you should visit to Gardens by the Bay this Christmas!

  • It is not that crowded

Despite the fact that I went to Gardens by the Bay on weekends, it wasn't very crowded at all. I went to Orchard today since it was a day after Christmas, I totally regretted the decision. It was crowded everywhere I go, cannot get tables from my favourite places of food, long queues to make payments and long queues everywhere!
On the other hand, Gardens by the Bay was not that crowded as you anticipated. If you go in the evening before sunset, you can see the night lights from the sky trees and it is much cooler than in the afternoon.

  • The photos you take will look AMAZING

Gardens by the bay is one of the most attractive spots to take photos with your friends and family or cityscape photography. Because of its unique designs and architecture, no matter how you take and no matter what camera you take with, it will look amazing. Just post process your photo in Instagram a little bit and share it on your social media apps (Psss, tag me on Instagram if you decided to post one over there, I'll be at @sheisreyar so tag your photos so that I can start liking them!)
An advice to you is to wait till night which I didn't and I regret about it so much because of the amazing lights that the sky trees will emit and there are much more activities to do at night!

It has amazing activities to do other than taking photos with friends and family

Other than taking photos, you can do various activities at Gardens by the Bay. It has Hi-5 funtastic house for families to enjoy and play games with family. I didn't go in since it was for evening timings but I'll link to their website here for more information about timings and activities.
It also has other rides such as Bumper cars, Ferris Wheel and Christmas trains. I'll link to their website here for more information about pricing.

  • The Luminarie Lights were beautiful

I didn't wait until at night during that time but I saw various Instagram stories and Snapchat stories of my friends going there enjoying their times with loads of Christmas carols and these amazing lights. The photos are from Christmas Wonderland website

  • It has an ICE PALACE

For those people who are like me who doesn't like hot weather, there is an ice palace just for you to enjoy icy snow like in other countries. In the ice palace, there is a huge ice skating rink, ice playground and an ice slide. For more information about timing and pricing, please click here for more information on their website.

  • Honorable mentions

It has various stores at Market place where you can enjoy food and do Christmas shopping for loved ones.
If you are more of visiting attractions kind of person, I recommend you to go into Flower Dome during Christmas where you'll see Nutcrackers and Christmas Decorations all over Flower Dome while you rest in cooling conditioned dome. I went there with my mother when she came visit me for my graduation.

Christmas Wishlist

Ahh, it's that time of the year where everywhere is jolly and cheerful with loads of Christmas music with loads of sales from various retailers and shops at the malls. Even though it's supposed to be winter in Singapore, it is warm in weather and we never really experienced "White Christmas" before in our lives. Well, if you think about it, Singapore is almost at the equator of the earth and it is considered to be one of the hottest area since it's nearer to the sun. Forgive me if I'm wrong since I was kind told this when I was young.

I still want to publish my wishlist even though I don't really need anything. It is considered as a wishlist and I don't really want to buy these products since I don't need them currently. I'm totally fine with what I already have and I'm planning to to buy anything this year. Being said that, I do want a keyboard to practice piano since I've always wanted to learn to play an instrument. (I might actually buy that but I'm not sure so far and I don't have the guts to immerse myself into doing one thing for quite a long time.) I want to categorize into beauty wishlist, home decor wishlist, fashion wishlist and tech wishlist.

Beauty

Fashion

Home Decor

Tech

So these are my christmas wishlist. Even though a lot of the things that I want are super expensive and will not probably get as a present but who cares! This is my wishlist meaning this is what I want even though I don't need them at all. haha

So, let me know in the comments below to a list of your wishlist for this Christmas!

4 apps every otaku needs

I have been an otaku since my whole life. If you were not sure what "otaku" is, it's about a person who excessively enjoys reading manga, watching anime and reading fan fiction online. I was about 8 years old when I first encountered with anime and I was hooked ever since. I still remember my very first anime was "Inuyasha" on Xing Kong where it was Chinese dub and it had Chinese subtitles. I was pretty much doomed and couldn't understand a thing while watching Inuyasha. But nonetheless, I  loved it to pieces and I always managed to wake up at 5am to watch the show since it was showing at 5.30 am. Pretty hardcore for an eight year old huh!

Fast forward to these few years, my anime addiction has grown. Ever since the exposure of the internet, I got in touch with something called "manga" and again, I've been hooked! Manga is the comic version of Japanese comics and I have been reading a shit ton of manga per day.

Let me tell you, now, I read 20-30 manga if each manga only has less than 10 chapters per day and 10-20 manga if it has around 30 chapters per manga. Pretty hardcore and I ain't not complaining.

I want to share the apps that every otaku, anime lovers should have on your phones!

I got 4 apps that I want to share with y'all. They are:
The first app that I want to share is Kissanime app. If you are an anime-lover or a k-drama lover, you are probably heard of kissanime, kiss cartoon and kissasian websites. They are websites that allow you to watch anime, cartoons and asian dramas respectively. Currently when I was writing this post, all kissanime, kiss cartoon and kiss asian websites are down due to some reasons and I couldn't watch anime from them. However, by using this app, I can watch anime from kiss anime server without experiencing DNS error from their website and you can watch the entire database full of anime from this app with subtitles and some dub anime. I added the image above of some of the most popular anime on kiss anime. Moreover, this app is absolutely free without any of in-app purchases. The only thing is you'll need to watch some of the ads showing before you start watching anime. It'll be fine since all of the apps are closable after 5 seconds of ads.

Next is Aozora app. Aozora is an app that showcases all the seasonal charts of anime from 1998 until now. It can be connected with MAL to add which of the anime you are currently watching, which ones you have finished and such. It is an excellent way to find more anime and organise what anime you watched and how many you have finished watching. It is the widest anime database for otaku to discover new anime and organise your anime watching list. I put some of the anime that I'm currently watching, some planning to watch, some that got on-hold, some that is completed, and some that is dropped accordingly. I also added the statistics on the total of how many I've finished watching and how many I'm currently watching. Not to brag though! So, if you have any anime that you want to watch but hasn't, you can always request me for anime reviews. I'll do it! Aozora is originally free app but it has In-app purchases for advanced features for S$ 8.98.

Follow me on MAL to see more of what kind of anime I'm watching and finished watching.

Next is an app called "Manga Rock" It is again, originally free app but it has limited manga downloads. If you are like me who travels a lot and read manga on the go, I recommend you to get the full version for S$8.98 for unlimited downloads. Manga Rock is the main app that I use daily to read manga since it is good for finding new manga and it has a pretty good search system to search your ultimate combination of genres.

If you are wondering, the genres that I read are shounen, shoujo, jousei, action, supernatural, shounen-ai, yaoi, romance, well, pretty much all the genres except horror. I hate horror stuff so I never really read horror genre. Except from that, I pretty much read everything that catch my attention.

Last but not least, it's "Manga Storm." It is my first app that I started using but later it become a bit difficult to find new manga on the daily. It is a good app if you want to download and read on the go. Normally it is a free app but again it has in-app purchase for unlimited downloads. The price for it is S$ 5.98.

This is my apps recommendations for fellow otaku to enjoy with their daily love for anime and manga. If you have any app recommendations for me, please leave me a comment down below and let me know what anime or manga you are currently obsessed with!

Best of 2016 - Music

Since it's almost end of the year, I would like to share my Best of series as usual. Even though, I always fail on updating my Best of 20XX series for my makeup, skincare and non-beauty categories, I've never fail to update you all on my music favorites. This year, I'm even thinking of adding my anime in my Best of 20XX series from this year.

2016 was an awesome year and I can't wait for 2017 to come over. What I think of the year in terms of music, people are creating more and more authentic music unlike the previous years and in terms of YouTube music, YouTube has become more strict on YouTube copyright on music. Most of the songs that I listen are in English and Japanese languages. Japanese songs are hard to stream online because of the strict copyright from Japanese companies and unless I'm in Japan, it is extremely difficult to get in touch with Japanese music.

2016 was the year I started using Spotify Premium so I would like to start adding my Spotify playlist on my blog as well in case you use Spotify. I use Spotify mainly for English and Korean music and some Japanese cover songs by various artists. As usual, I will put my YouTube playlist for the songs of 2016 and there has been a lot of deleted songs on the playlist since some songs had caught copyright claims from various companies and had been deleted by the uploader.

Three Best Apps for Instagram

Instagram has always been my favourite type of social media and it has been one of the few social media platforms that I use when I was young. I started using it ever since they came out, even before they were famous like right now. Now, it has become part of my life and Instagram is the only app that I find myself using while I was taking a break from all the social media and the only app I find myself checking everyday.
I love photography and I love taking beautiful images since I was young so it's no doubt become my everyday app. For me, Instagram is a platform that I like to share the things that I enjoy and adore without stressing me out. I saw a lot of people keeping their Instagram neat and creative with their themes but honestly, for me, I know for sure that it'll never happen. I'm such a random person that likes to post photos whenever I'm inspired. Instagram is not the platform that I like to put loads of effort to (well, of course if I put themes and creative stuff, my Instagram will be more beautiful. I'm aware of that!)
For me, Instagram is a chill place. I upload photos whenever I see something pretty or whenever I created something that I like. It's a chill zone and something that I look forward to inspire myself after a stressful day.

Even though I said that Instagram is my chill zone, I still put my creative works in each individual images. In order to create the pictures that I'm satisfied with, I use the photo editing apps to create into perfect little photos. Of course, my photos would be nothing without the apps they are edited on and there are three particular apps that I can't live without.

Snapseed

Starting with the most creative app that I use every time I take a photo, Snapseed. Snapseed is made by Google and I found this app via my boyfriend. He likes to take photos but he is the type who never edits the photo or upload it as frequently as I do. But when I saw him using the app, it peaks my interest of this app. Like Afterlight or VSCOCAM, Snapseed offers the standard photo editing features from Exposure and Contrast to Saturation and Sharpening.

The feature that won me over from using other apps is because of the new feature called "White Balance." I also use Adobe Lightroom for most of my blog photography and my landscape photography and White Balance is the feature I always use to do major editing. Another feature that I like to use more often is called "Lens Blur." This is the effect I always like to use whenever I'm taking product photos with my phone and it is very convenient tool for me to use.

It's definitely worth paying attention to other nifty features that are useful for your amazing photography and other features that the app has to offer. The best thing about this app is that it can do so many things in one app and the fact that it is free from the app store unlike Afterlight or VSCOCAM which I also own and used before.

 Facetune

I use Facetune for just about everything after I used Snapseed. It also offers a lot of features that I like to use for food photos, portraits, selfies and flat-lay photos.  Facetune makes a difference in the final outcome of my pictures and let me tell you, they look so much better than before I started editing on this app.

The most used feature in Facetune is definitely whiten tool. I believe a lot of people agree on this since the whiten tool is the best way to whiten the background for those perfect white themes on Instagram. Of course, I also use whiten tool to whiten various places in my photographs from whitening the background to whitening some of my teeth to my eyes.

Another feature that I like to use is the smooth and details tools. Well, if you are wondering, no, I don't use smooth tool to smooth out my skin. I sometimes smooth out my background for my food photos while giving more details on the food using the details tool.

Sometimes, I also like to use defocus tool for further blurring out the background in some of my food and product photos. The defocus feature is a real convenient tool for me to have a perfect product photo without buying expensive lens for my DSLR or from my iPhone photos.

Instagram

Yup, you heard it right! I believe Instagram is one of the best apps for editing photos for those who doesn't want to use other apps to edit their photos. Instagram's in-house editing features offer extensive photo editing and I always have been awed by how amazing the app has become.

I still remember the times I overuse filters to my photos. During that time, there wasn't any adjustments for filters, there were no adjustments for exposures and saturation. Now, I believe that Instagram has come so far with their app to produce more and more amazing features for us creators to create beautiful photos and share it with friends, family and out to the world to see.

If you are a big photo enthusiast like I am, who always bring my DSLR with me wherever I go, I highly suggest you try out the apps that I mentioned above. And let me know in the comments, what apps you like to use for your Instagram and what are your favourite Instagram accounts that I should follow ASAP!
